BRACKETING

First you must choose your correct division and submit your team entry. For youth, HOOPATLANTA will include separate divisions for males and females in middle and high school based on their school grade level. All teams will be placed in the appropriate division based on the oldest player next grade level. Please note that these grade level groups are dependent upon the number of teams that sign up in those grade level groups. Some grade level groups may have to play against older youth to form a complete pool. Our goal is to create pools that evenly match teams together.

After all entries are received and processed for all tournaments, based on your team's profile, HOOPATLANTA will place your team in an appropriate pool within your division. Through the registration process, players with similar skill levels will be analyzed and placed together in the same pool within their division. Teams with similar skill sets will be assigned to the same court for the entire weekend, with the goal to be champion of their court. The goal for HOOPATLANTA is to provide a safe, competitive environment for all youth regardless of their skill set or basketball IQ.

Bracketing Basics

Team Name - Here's your chance to shine with the most creative name of the tournament, but remember that HOOPATLANTA reserves the right to reject any name deemed to be inappropriate. Such team names will be replaced by the captain's last name.

Age - HOOPATLANTA will bracket school-aged teams based on player grade levels, not ages, in the 2010 - 2011 school year. It is acceptable to have teams with a mix of players of different grades.

Gender - Divisions are separated by gender.

Height - Player height, especially that of the tallest player on each team, is important in determining team brackets. Please do not misrepresent your height on your entry form. PLEASE TAKE NOTE: If your actual height differs from what is indicated on your entry forms, you will be immediately disqualified from the tournament.

Experience - Tell us what you've been doing this past year, as well as if you've ever played at such levels as AAU, high school varsity or college ball. It will help our staff to make brackets competitive.
