Converse HOOPATLANTA Speed Free Throw Competition
If you are a true fan of the game, you understand the importance of free-throw shooting. That's why The Health Education & Communication Center of Atlanta (HECCA) created a fun, heart-pounding contest around one of the most fundamental elements of the game. Our Converse HOOPATLANTA Speed Free Throw Shooting Competition provides a constructive, character-building experience for active kids, and especially kids who like sports that love to be timed, challenged and rewarded. This competition, which will be launched in the Dekalb County School System (DCSS), is designed so the best athlete may not win, but the best free throw shooter just might.
In addition to the mental and physical benefits provided by competing in the contest, contestants learn the importance of developing individual skills. The Free Throw Competition will be the largest most visible of the many youth activities sponsored by HECCA and Converse. Over twenty (20) DCSS's schools will participate in the competition.
In partnership with Converse, HECCA's desire through this program is to provide an active, competitive program for all girls and boys in the contest regardless of their previous athletic competition or abilities. This school system, sanctioned program gives these youngsters an opportunity for spirited competition, get active with their peers, and compete on behalf of their schools.
