FAQs ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT

What is the tournament format?
The tournament is a 3-on-3 double elimination tournament. Through our registration process, teams will be analyzed and placed together in the same pool (consisting of 8-10 teams) within the college division with the goal to be champion of their court.

Teams will stay on the same court for the duration of the tournament.

How many players can be on a team?
Teams can consist of 3 or 4 players.

How are the teams divided up?
There are 2 divisions:
  • Open College Division - Male
  • Open College Division - Female
What do players receive for playing?
All players will receive a Converse jersey/short set, Converse draw String Bag and other cool items.

What do winners receive?
1st place winners will receive $100 Converse gift card, HOOPATLANTA basketball and 1st place medal. 2nd Place winners will receive a $50 gift card and HOOPATLANTA basketball.

How much does it cost to participate?
Each team has a registration fee of $75.00. The fee for a college to participate is $1,800.00, which allows up to twenty-four (24) teams to participate. Each participating college must pay the registration fee for all twenty-four (24) teams but may have a fewer number of teams (minimum of twelve teams) actually participate in the tournament. The fee will be a tax-deductible donation from The Health Education & Communication Center of Atlanta (HECCA), a 501(c)(3) organization.

How does a team register to play?
Once payment is received from a college, HOOPATLANTA administration will send a promotional code to the school coordinator. The school coordinator will enter each team on the HOOPATLANTA online registration portal. Once each team is registered, the School Coordinator will receive a HOOPATLANTA Registration Confirmation email for each team. A copy of the confirmation should then be sent to the Team Captain of the team.

Teams can be added until the tournament’s registration end date, which is April 5th.

When registering, all teams must have their college abbreviation at the start of their team name. For example, a University of Georgia team would be named ‘UGA Ballerz’ and a Kennesaw State University team will be called ‘KSU Raiders.’
